Entertaiment is a type of activity that can help to relieve boredom or stress. It can take many forms: movies, television programs, social media, sports games and real life events. The activities can also stimulate the brain, wich produces seratonin and dopamine which gives a feeling of well being. It is often focused on topics that the human mind was evolved to deeply react to, such as murders and social backstabbing.
Entertainment evolves and can be adapted to any scale: from an individual who chooses private entertainment from a now enormous array of pre-recorded products; to a banquet adapted for two, with appropriate music and dance; to parties for thousands; to performances intended for global audiences. The power of the story of Scheherazade, for example, is demonstrated by the way that it inspires retellings in different media: composers like Rimsky-Korsakov and Ravel make musical adaptations; director Pasolini makes films; and developers make innovative video games.
